We had a day out in Reading for Bernard to visit a fellow stick maker and pick up a few things he needed.

A nice walk along the river Thames and a nosey around the shops

A few days in the Static at Aberaeron

Wednesday 21st Sep we went up to the static with our friends Pam & Cliff. We left home at 12oclock and arrived at 2pm. it takes just 2hrs from home to van.

Thursday 22nd Sept we had a trip to Aber Porth this is a lovely cove ideal for swimming or kayaking .

Friday 23rd Sept

We had a day at Aberystwyth and a good old cart around the shops. And we had lovely fish and Chips for tea

Saturday 24th the weather wasn’t very good so we had a lazy morning then went to Aberaeron for a mooch around. Then back for a lazy evening.

Sunday it was pack up and head for home as I had an appointment today Monday26th.

Holiday to Yorkshire 3rd to 13th Sept 2011

Saturday the 3rd September we set off on holiday to Yorkshire we made our first nights stop on a wonderful CL site near Chesterfield. It was immaculate and well laid out

Sunday 4th we set off for a 4 night stay at Rowntree Park the caravan club site in York we arrived on site at 12.20pm

once set up we had a walk along the river.

Monday 5th it was a walk around York shops and town

Tuesday 6th we decided to walk the city walls we started off close to the caravan site

There were times when we had to come down off the wall to cross the roads or river

nice ornaments for the static as we have lots of cupboards to fill.

Friday 9th

We had a trip to Ensleigh a market town with street market.

Saturday 10th

A day in Scarborough and there was a (wing ding) there

A gathering of gold wing bikes trikes and combos. It was an amazing sight to see.

A day of rugby and rest

Monday 12th time to pack up and head back down to Derby and another caravan site

Tuesday 13th time to pack up and say a fond farewell to Yorkshire.

On a recent weeks holiday at Aberaeron West Wales with friends we stayed in this caravan on a nice quiet site 4 miles from Aberaeron and 5 miles from Newquay

On a walk around the site we spotted this so a look round was organized

And this is what we saw all in immaculate condition.

So after deciding to buy we went back up with car and trailer loaded to the hilt.

23rd June we set off in the motor home for 6 days at the caravan club site at Gwern y Bwlch. We have been to this site before and really enjoy it there.

We arrived on site at 12.30 and we were meeting up with my cousin from Cheltenham. After setting up and a brew we had a ride into Machynlleth a small quaint town about 8 miles from the site. The wild life on this site is wonderful.

The weather was a bit of a mixture rain and sunshine but not enough rain to stop us going out sightseeing. There is some beautiful scenery around that part of Wales.

Bank Holiday in Henley on Thames

Friday 27th May we set off to join a caravan club rally with the Gwent Centre at Henley on Thames for 4 nights.. This was a nice site within 10 minutes walk of Henley town centre.

The weather wasn’t at all good it was overcast most of the time and with quite a keen wind. On the bank holiday Monday it rained all day. Tuesday. Not got very good photos but we were entertained every day with the red kites.

Tuesday and time to pack up and head for home as we are having a new roof on the house because we have a leak

Caravan Rally at Ross on Wye

Friday 6th May we set off just after 11am to join the Gwent Centre for a rally at Ross on Wye

We arrived just after 12.15. We towed the pander with us this time.

This was a lovely site right on the banks of the river Wye. Weather was beautiful.

Saturday 7th May

Started off with rain quite heavy but soon the sun came out again so a trip into Monmouth

and ross town with a visit to the market. the photos below were take on the way back to the site.

Well the rain started at 6pm and didn’t stop it hammered down all night. Bernard wondered if he would get the motorhome off ok.

We decided to take the motorhome out and I drove the car to a nearby lay by to hitch up so all went well.

We arrived home just after 12.30.

Tenby for Easter

Thursday 21st. April we loaded up the motorhome and set off on a caravan club rally with The Gwent Centre to Tenby for 5 days. we arrived in glorious sun shine There was 92 units on site.

We were meeting up with Drena & Geoff from Cheltenham

Weekend away in USK

Friday 15th April we set off for a weekend rally with the Avon Centre of the Caravan Club at a lovely site nr Usk. see Link.

This is a beautiful site right on the banks of the river and perfectly kept by the owners.

We arrived on site around 12oclock and met up with my cousin who came down from Cheltenham. The afternoon was spent lazing about in the sun and catching up on news.

We had a ride out and about and stopped off at Caerleon and had a walk around the Roman ruins of the amphitheatre.

Weekend Away in Chepstow

Friday 25th March set off for a weekend away in the motorhome to a nice little CL near Chepstow Gwent meeting up with my cousin from Cheltenham.
We arrived on site at 1.15pm in brilliant sunshine. it was nice and quiet and we were surrounded by some beautiful horses there were some lovely birds there as well.
Saturday we went into the historic town of Chepstow had a mooch around the shop then onto Tintern and a walk around the famous Abby Back at the site
We were well entertained with the birds that came to our feeder

Sunday comes around all to quickly and time to pack up and head for home but not before we made a trip to the Chepstow racecourse market but not much there today so it was off home until we roll the wheels again next time.

First Weekend away in the motorhome 2011

Friday 18th March decided to have a weekend away in the motorhome as the weather forecast was looking good.

We went to a lovely site advertised in the MM M magazine Trefaldu Coarse Fishery Caravan & Camping it was near Monmouth in Gwent. It was a working farm with 4 lakes for the fisher men/women

We arrived on site by 12.15pm it was a lovely sunny day and the fishermen were already at the lakes enjoying the weather.

Saturday 19th March 2011 we went into Abergavenny the weather was glorious and there was loads of people just enjoying the sunshine.

Back at the site we were fascinated with the mating frogs down in the lakes. There were 100’s of them.

My cousin couldn’t help poking them with a stick spoil sport.

Sunday 20th March 2011 and time to pack up and head for home

OH where do the time go. but hopefully weather permitting we are going to go away again next weekend to Chepstow.

5 Days away in Eastbourne

Monday 31st January and another 5 day coach trip we were picked up at 7.30 by the local coach company and headed off to Eastbourne.

When we left home the weather was nice as the day progressed we even had sun shine and blue skies. We arrived at the hotel around 4pm.

Tuesday 1st February we had a day around Eastbourne wasn’t very good weather but there were plenty of shops and we found a Wetherspoons.

Wednesday 2nd Feb and its Bernard’s Birthday 70 today Happy Birthday Bern

Today’s excursion was to Brighton but the weather wasn’t good there was a very strong wind and rain but never mind plenty of shops and a WETHERSPOONS.

Back at the hotel and the evening meal ended with a birthday cake for the birthday boy

Thursday 3rd February and there were 3 excursions today first to Battle the 1066 battle fields and the village.

5 days Mystery coach trip

Monday 10th January we were picked up by the local coach company at 8.30am for a 5 day mystery coach trip. We go on these trips often during the winter months.

By lunchtime we were settling into the Suncliffe Hotel right on the sea front at Bournemouth. A very nice hotel good swimming pool and leisure suite so we were able to swim on a few days.

Evening entertainment in the hotel was a singer not bad . but the price of drinks was well over the top a Bacardi & coke two red wines and a pint of Carlsberg. £19.60. YES £19.60

Tuesday 11th

Day trip to pool harbour and Pool Centre. back to the hotel for a nice long swim. After the evening meal we had a walk down to the Wetherspoons drinks much cheaper there.

Wednesday 12th

A day trip to Dorchester Town and the Market back at the hotel for a nice swim before evening meal.

Thursday 13th

A day trip to Salisbury and then onto Winchester. Back to hotel for swim and and evening meal.

No photos on this trip so far as the weather wasn’t very good.

Friday 14th

Time once again to pack up and head for home and on the way we stopped off at Bath for a few more hours of shopping. I did manage to get a few photos there.

We arrived home around 4pm A very nice week away. Next coach trip away is 31st Jan for 5 days. looking forward to it.

Coach trip to Scotland

Sunday Dec 12th we set off on a 5 day coach holiday to Scotland a little village called Drymen east of Glasgow not far away from Loch Lomond. It was a Turkey and Tinsel trip.

It was touch and go if the trip would go ahead due to the snow already in Scotland but Saturday we had the call that it was all systems go. So cases were packed and things sorted.

We were picked up in Newport at 7.45am and was soon on our way up the Motorways. having stops in services the last stop was in Gretna Green it was then we saw the snow the main roads were ok but the snow ploughs pile the snow up on the sides of the road we arrived at our hotel The Winnock at 4.45pm so we made excellent time. This was an all inclusive trip.

Monday 13th Dec

Our trip up the Dukes pass and the Trosshacks had to be cancelled due the snow and icy conditions on the road so our driver took us to Sterling instead which was nice. but no photos

Tuesday 14th Dec

Today was a full day in Edinburgh. There was so much going on the Christmas markets, winter wonderland, the big wheel, and shows, and all the shops were very festive.

Back at the hotel the celebration was Christmas Day evening meal and santa came around with the presents

Thursday 16th Dec

All to soon it was time to pack the cases and head back home. The weather had started to deteriorate quite badly so our coach driver decided we would leave an hour earlier then planned and try and get in front of the snow fall which was just as well because we came through two blizzards and by the time we got to Gretna Green the snow had changed to rain but the traffic was well on the move so we were more hope full of getting back home. All was wll and we arrived back home at 4.45pm

Friday we went to Tetbury home of HRH

A very nice place full of architecture and the street flowers and hanging baskets were superb shop prices were rather pricy

Then we went on to Wootton Bassett another Cotswold quaint village

The cenotaph at Wootton Bassett where the funeral cortege stops for the families and friends to pay respects to their loved ones who are brought back home

Saturday We went back for another look around Malmesbury there was a wedding at the Abby

Then on to Cirencester but no photos of Cirencester.

10 DAYS in the PEAK DISTRICT

Thursday 15th July we set of for a holiday in the Peak District a caravan club site near Derby. As usual the weather was overcast and cold for the time of year but one thing we cant control is the weather so its make the best of things. Drena and Geoff had arrived before us and we had a pitch next to them. On route up we went off the A38 and called into a butchers shop Peter Coates of Alrewas we always went to this butchers when we had the narrow boat at Burton on Trent the meat there is first class we picked up some giant mexican rib eye steaks and placed an order for a whole lamb and half a pig and some more of these lovely steaks for us to pick up on the way home.

The site was overlooking the Carsington Water there was lots of water sports and plenty of wild life especially the squirrels who totally demolished my bird feeders.

Sunday was the Highland bagpipe band competition lots of different tartan groups doing their playing and marching

They even put the flags out

Weekend away in Hereford

Friday 2nd June 2010 with motorhome packed and the sun shining we headed off for a weekend rally with the Gwent Centre of the caravan club a nice rally field between Hereford and Ross on Wye. We arrived on site about 12.30pm just after the cousin who was coming from Cheltenham.

Saturday 3rd we went into Ross on Wye a lovely town on the river Wye.

The Kayak company did a roaring trade dropping the kayaks off for the people to hire

They even came in fancy dress.

Weekend away in USK

The Caravan Club Gwent Centre was holding their Charity Rally in USK so with the motorhome packed we set off in brilliant sunshine and was on site by 11am. My cousin was coming down from Cheltenham and they arrived just after 11.30

This rally field is right on the banks of the river USK so plenty of fun and games for the kids with canoes.

This is a popular rally and always well attended.

There was lots of stalls and things to do and buy and the entertainment lasted all day and ended with a karaoke in the evening.

All money is given to local charities

5 Days away in Aberaeron West Wales

Wednesday 9th June we set off for the caravan club site Shawsmead at Aberaeron in West Wales. This is the first time out in the motorhome since I had a stroke on the 4th May. The weather wasn’t brilliant and we left home around 11am. it took us about 2 1/2 hours and it rained most of the way.

Our friends Pam & Cliff went there on Sunday they were staying in a static caravan for the week just up the road from the site we were on. Thursday we went on a tour of the beaches in the area.

Caravan Club Rally at USK

23rd to 25th April

Friday 23rd April in glorious weather we set off for a weekend at USK with the Avon Centre caravan club we arrived on site just after 12noon we were meeting up with my cousin from Cheltenham. After setting up and getting the barby going we had some sausage sarnies then went off into Abergavenny for the afternoon.

Back on site we got the bbq going again and had a few drinks and a good catch up chat with the cousin.

Saturday morning Geoff was playing golf at the Alice Springs golf club just down the road it was the Avon Centre golf tournament rally and he was making the numbers up. When he came back to site we went into Monmouth for a mooch around. Another beautiful day and another bbq.

It tipped down with rain through the night but by the morning the sun was out again it should always be like this.

Sunday morning at flag the winner of the golf tournament was announced and yes it was GEOFF. he couldn’t take the cup because he was not a member of the avon centre but he knew that before he played anyway so the person who came second took the cup.

Long Weekend away in Brecon

Thursday 8th April we left home for a long weekend at the Caravan Club Site at Aberbran on the Brecon National Park. The journey to Brecon was along the reservoirs the scenery was beautiful there was even snow on the top on Pen y Fan one of the highest mountains in the Beacons.

We arrived on site around 1.30pm. in glorious weather. After setting up we had a walk around the site and surrounding area.

Friday was market day in Brecon so we had a stroll around and back to site for a BBQ and a relaxing afternoon and evening

Saturday we went to Builth Wells another lovely day. we went back to site the scenic route over the beacons and the army ranges. Another lovely sunny day and a BBQ and relaxing in the sun.

5 Days away AGAIN

Monday 1st February 2010 and we are off again on a Mystery Tour with the local coach company
9am we were picked up and taken to Magor services to join the main coach.
This mystery trip was to Torquay we were there in November 2009 on a mystery tour but this was at a different hotel

There was Bingo and entertainment every night in the hotel.
The entertainment was good but we didn’t win the bingo

Tuesday 2nd Feb was Bernards 69th Birthday.
And we celebrated with our good friends Pam & Cliff

We arrived home in good time around 3.30pm. And a good break away was had by all.

5 Days in Hayling Island

Monday 18th January 2010 and we set off at 9am with our friends Pam & Cliff on our coach journey to the Warner's Holiday Complex at Hayling Island for a five day all inclusive break.

We arrived by 1pm and was greeted with drinks at the bar while we waited for our chalets to be handed over.

The free bar was open from 12 noon until 11pm.

This trip is organised this time every year by a lady called Rose she takes over the whole camp 7 full coaches mainly dancers and bowlers us 4 just make up the numbers there’s loads of entertainment going on all day and night.

We had a trip to Portsmouth on Tuesday

December 22/12/09

We were picked up from the door at 5.30am in the freezing cold and 6 inches of snow to be taken to Magor Services to meet up with our coach and our friends Pam and Cliff for the journey to Santa Suzanna Spain. We made good time to the ferry at Dover and was on the 1 15pm ferry. Once on the other side we were soon making progress to our overnight stop just south of Paris. An early start on Wednesday and we were soon seeing a difference in the temperature and the cloudy sky soon turned to blue. We arrived at the Florida Park Hotel around 6pm.

Thursday 24th Dec.

A half day trip to Gerona. In the evening it was the Christmas Gala Dinner All wine and champagne free.

After breakfast we went for a walk on the beach.

Saturday 2nd Jan 2010 time to make an early start and head up to our overnight stop just south of Paris

Sunday 3rd Jan 2010 and another early start to get to Calais for the ferry back to Dover all went very smooth and we arrived home around 7pm.

2nd to 8th Dec in France

WEDNESDAY 2nd Dec and we are on our way to Portsmouth for the 11pm overnight Ferry to CAEN France with our friends Sally & Philip who own a cottage in South Brittany.

We have been going to the cottage with them for some 17 years and we really enjoy it there.

This visit was going to be different as over the last year they have been having extensive alterations done and we were looking forward to seeing it all.

All to soon it was time to pack up and make our way back to Caen for the overnight crossing to Portsmouth and home again. The ferry crossing was very good and we had the lounge to ourselves.

5 days in Torquay 16th to 20th Nov 2009 Coach Holiday

Monday 16th Nov and we are off on our 5 day Turkey & Tinsel coach holiday to Torquay picked up from our local bus station at 7.30am on a feeder coach and then met up with the main coach and are on our way. It was a full coach 53 seater.

The hotel had a lovely swimming pool and we didn't take the cozzeys

We arrived at our hotel around 1pm and after we settled in we went for a walk to the Harbour and around the shops.

Tuesday it was a full day trip to Plymouth how it have changed in 17 years.

Thursday was a half day trip to Trago Mills at Newton Abbot

Friday and time to pack the cases and head for home via a stop at Taunton. We arrived home about 6pm.

Today is the 12th anniversary of my dear father’s death. He died while on Holiday in Spain.

It fell on Remembrance Sunday.

Also today is the 1st anniversary of us picking up our Burstner motorhome and how we have enjoyed having it.

We decided to have a few days away so booked a CL in Somerset for the 5 days we left home on the Wednesday around 11am the sky was blue and the sun was shining great we thought weather man wrong again. but 45mins later as we crossed the Severn Bridge the heavens opened and it rained but as we got closer to the site it stopped. We managed to set up and get settled and lo and behold more rain it rained all night.

Thursday 22nd

Still raining we decided to go into Weston S Mare for some shopping but the rain kept coming back at site we had a relaxing time.

Friday 23rd

Woke up to a lovely bright sunny day my cousin was coming to join us for the weekend they arrived around 12.30 got their caravan set up we had a brew and a chat then went to Highbridge Caravans as they are looking to change their van. There were loads of vans there and they fancied two so it was thinking time.

Back on site we had a nice BBQ and a few bevies and a chat to catch up on news of our families

Saturday 24th

Another glorious day so we went to Breen Sands Holiday village to see friends who were caravanning there for the week. We enjoyed a cup of coffee with them then made our way back to Highbridge to have another look at the two caravans they fancied. Then back to the site where we had our evening meal and an evening watching X Factor

(how sad are we).

Sunday 25th

Our daughter Tracy is 44 today so home to see her later .

Not many photos this post due to weather and caravan looking but the CL Site which was very nice and we will return here next year

Friday9th October 2009 and we were off to one of our favourite CL sites. We go to this site every October as the farmer lets us help ourselves to the bramley apples in the orchard. They wasn’t as good this year but we have enough to freeze and see us through the winter.

When we left home the weather was quite pleasant We arrived on site around 1pm and as we started to fill up with water the rain started typical.

My cousin was already there so we had a brew and a good chat to catch up with the news as we hadn't seen them for almost a month. The rain finally stopped but it was quite cold.

This site has no facilities only a water tap and an elsan point but it has the most wonderful views, wild bird life, and horses in the fields what more can one ask for for £5.00 a night.

Woke to a beautiful warm and sunny day.

We went out for a ride later and came across a sign saying viewing point good job I had the camera with me this is what we saw.

Sunday it was a cloudy dull day and time to pack up and head for home

We did check the ewes but there was no red dye on them.

He must have enjoyed the apples or just plain lazy

Looking forward to the next trip but haven’t decided on when or where at the moment but soon
